I went to the American
Paint Horses Association's 2006 World show with some friends. Dana
Boudreaux rode with me and we met up with a bunch of our "hen" friends from
"Hen House" and had a great time. The company was great and the horses
were stunning.
Here's the 2006 World Champion 2 year old stallion,
Classic Link. He is perfect! He stood head and shoulders above the
competition. Everyone else was hoping for the Reserve World Champion
title. Needless to say, he went first under all judges. He not only is a
spectacularly built horse, he is a flashy bay overo stallion. He
stands out in many ways. He’s a big boy, too. That’s Fred Tabor
showing him. I think he’s in his barn full time. |

Here’s a 3 yr old gelding named Scoot To Win. He is sired by of the
stallion Barlink Macho Too that is owned by one of the Hens. We saw
him showed in
2003 when my kids and I were at the World Show last. I've added his
win picture taken by KC Montgomery here because my picture of this fine
horse just doesn't do him justice. |

Here are a few pictures of some hens. This is,
left to right, Dana Boudreaux from Louisiana, Kim Lewis from
California, Gerry Dinning of Idaho, me, and then Debbie Howie
from Michigan. Debbie’s weanling gelding took fourth in amateur with her and
fourth in open (tied for third, but lost the tie breaker). Gerry and Walt’s
stallion, Hes A Smooth Mister, “Colby” took fourth in amateur aged stallions with Walt
showing him…..and he feels he didn’t get him shown. This picture was taken by our imaginary friend, Walt
Dinning. (Walt calls us Gerry's imaginary friends because all us
ladies met on the internet.) |

One of the hens, Lynette
Whittaker owns this mare, Shes One Cool Heiress, here, being shown by Mike
McMillian. They went on to grab the Reserve World Champion title in the
class. I think it was 2 year old mares. |

This filly didn't place
in Solid Paint-Bred Yearling Mares, but dang if that's not the prettiest
head possible! |

Here's a picture of
Lynette playing with a puppy that belongs to a lady who was
sitting near us. |

Here's
your World Champion solid paint bred weanling filly. She was coal black and
beautiful. |

This is Jim with his
daughter Laurie and he and Michelle's two little boys, Dylan and Tyler.
Laurie is 17, Dylan 3 and Tyler 18 months. |

Here's
the World Champion Broodmare, Dominate Deluxe. I found her a little heavy,
as in fat, but she was beautiful. This guy is named Matt Woodson and he’s
an up and coming trainer from Ohio, I think. He does an excellent job of
getting the horses shown. |

This is the same mare
that he was showing. She and some other mare tied in placings and it was up
to a tie breaker judge. This is when he knew they had the World
Championship title. He only knew when the other horses’ name was called as
Reserve World Champion. He got a little emotional and I thought it was
great. You could tell it really meant something to him. |

The same thing happened
in the Pleasure Driving class. When they announced the Reserve World
Champion our World Champion realized she had it and just burst out crying.
Of course, being a soft-hearted person, I started with the tears, too, which
rolled on down the line of hens. Ms. Gerry, Ms. Dana, Ms. Kim, etc. were
all crying with me. I stopped, though, when Ms. Gerry told me she was going
to poke me in the eye if I didn’t stop. She’s too funny!
I don't know who they were or anything about the gelding, but when they went
up to the rail all the kids in this one family ran to the rail to pet their
boy....who loved the attention. I'm willing to bet he gets a LOT of
attention. I don't think he did great in the class, but he's worth his
weight in gold! (Sorry, the picture is blurry. I thought you'd still enjoy
seeing it.) |

Just a pretty picture of
a horse really getting shown. |

And just a pretty picture

Unfortunately, John
couldn't get away from work to come with us. Life is a lot more fun
with him around, but I still had fun. I was with a great bunch of
people and we got to see a lot of impressive horse flesh. |
