Adam with John and I at the Camp for the weekend |
Adam was able to come
over and spend an extended late October weekend with John and I. We
had a wonderful time and the three of us spent two pf the days at the camp.

Putting "jugs" out. |

We set a few yo-yos out, too. |

Even though the camp has everything we need, we
opted to cook over a campfire for supper. It was enjoyable. |

It was pretty cool the next morning, probably in the
lower forties, and we went to check our lines. |
| |

It was pretty brisk in the boat and our life vests were
wet with morning dew. I normally wouldn't hear of anyone riding in the
boat without one, but on this particular day we would have ended up with
pneumonia. |

We caught quite a few little catfish by various methods.
The jugs spent the night out and Adam is pictured paddling us off of a
mudflat we ended up on to retrieve one of them. |

I love these guys! |

Back at the camp, Adam's tent was still set up. |

Adam was joking that his truck was camouflaged. John
cooked us a feast for breakfast. We had grits and eggs and ham.
We also enjoyed coffee, although the water for the first pot was heated on
the stove in the camp. |

I'm just crazy about this wonderful chef I have!
After breakfast John and Adam were dating an old ax before shooting targets
mounted on a dead tree. |
| |

John also instructed Adam on the use of bi-pod shooting.
You can see from Adam's face the results were very impressive! They
also shot various hand guns, too. |
| |
We shot many different guns and
Adam estimates he shot 600 bullets over the course of the two days.
John thinks it was more than that. The practice was good for Adam. |

Here's a few short videos: |
Although it was too windy for it, we decided to set out
"jugs" baited with chicken hearts. |
| |
I got excited when I realized this wasn't a log on the
hook and forgot that I had the camera set on video. I tried to snap a
couple of pictures, which of course started the video and stopped it.
It's pretty neat, just too short. |
| |
Finally giving up the idea of jug fishing because the
wind was winning, we were moving pretty good as Adam was hooking the jugs
and putting them in the boat. To our surprise, one of the jugs had a
small catfish on it. |

All weekend Buffalo fish were jumping out of the water.
They're big fish so they make a good bit of noise and it's fun to see or
will scare you if you don't see them. Adam and I had just seen one
jump and Adam was describing it to John. Adam and I didn't know what
it was, but later we caught a ten pounder and recognized the species.
That one fish fed three of us and we had leftovers! |
