Miscellaneous

This page is all about the bottles that are in my collection that don't fit into any other categories on here.  You will find all sorts of bottles here on this page.  Some of the  bottles here were made for a subsidiary of a company such as Pepsi or Coca Cola.  What I mean by that is for instance, on this page is a Fresca bottle, but Fresca was made by Pepsi.  You will also find bottles here that will be from an unknown origin to an unknown purpose.  I hope you find some bottles here that interest you.  If you are interested in seeing one of the pictures larger, just click on it and a larger picture will open in its own little window.  Please enjoy your visit to my site. Thank you.

Tabasco
I would like to thank Dr. Shane K. Bernard, Historian & Curator of the McIlhenny Company, for assisting  me in finding the history behind this awesome bottle.

This is one of my favorite bottles.  It is a Extract of Tabasco bottle that has the old Tabasco bottle shape with 8 flat sides.  This bottle was made by one of the early competitors, the New Iberia Extract of Tabasco Company, of the McIlhenny Company.  The New Iberia Extract of Tabasco Company existed between circa 1900 and 1920 which is the time period that this bottle was made.  The Company was bought out by the McIlhenny Company around 1920 at which time the product was discontinued.  This bottle measures 4.5" tall with a max circumference of 1.5" and estimated to holds two fluid ounces. The words "EXTRACT TABASCO" and "NEW IBERIA" are embossed on the bottom of the bottle.  The bottle appears to have been sealed by the use of a cork.  I see no indication of any other type of seal that could have been used.  I am sure that this bottle will not be going anywhere for a very long time.  You can find more out about Tabasco here.

Diehl & Lord Bottle

Theses two bottles are identical. The reason that they look different is because the one to the right is stained.  Theses two bottles were produced for Diehl & Lord.  The possible contents of the bottle is unknown.  Text reading " Diehl & Lord is embossed in an arch above "Nashville Tenn." which is also embossed on the bottle.  Near the base of the bottle, " This bottle is never sold" is embossed on it.  This phrase just adds more wonder to the use of the bottle.  On the bottom of the bottle is a large D.  These bottles measure 8" tall with a max circumference of 8" and holds an unknown volume.  Theses bottles were most likely sealed with a bottle cap.

E. W. Heck Bottling Works Bottle

This bottle was produced by the E. W. Heck Bottling Works.  This company was out of Nashville Tenn.  In a circle on the bottle, "E. W. Heck Bottling Works, Nashville Tenn." is embossed.  On the bottom of the bottle, "HECK" is embossed in it.  This bottle measures 7.875" tall with a max circumference of 7.875" and holds and unknown volume.  This bottle was most likely sealed with a bottle cap.

Civil War Bottle

This bottle has an interesting story. It is said that Andrew Jackson drank form this bottle while in New Orleans at the Battle of New Orleans.  I believe the bottle was blown into a mold.  It has the seam but has all of the other classic signs of being blown.  The bottle measures 7.5" tall with a max circumference of 8.0625" and holds an unknown volume.  The bottle has a lip similar to that of a bottle sealed with a bottle cap but has no indication of ever being sealed in that manner.  I believe it to have been sealed with a cork.

DAD'S (Root beer) Bottle (Half Gallon)

This is truly a unique bottle.  It is a half gallon Dad's Root beer bottle.  The bottle is finely embossed all over.  At the top "DAD'S" is embossed as well as "NO DEPOSIT."  The bottom of the bottle has a lot of embossed writing on it. "PAT. DES. 193533", "NOT TO BE REFILLED", "COPYRIGHT BY DAD'S ROOT BEER CO. CHICAGO, ILL." is all embossed on the bottom.  This bottle measures 11.625" tall with a max circumference of 14.875" and holds a half gallon.  It has to be one of my neatest bottle.  It is the only one that I have like it.

Saratoga Dressing Bottle

This bottle is for Saratoga Dressing.  The contents of this bottle was used for wounds.  Embossed on the front of the bottle is "Saratoga Dressing," the trade mark, " Restorff & Bettmann," "New York, USA."  The trade mark is of a B and a R one on top of the other.  This is encompassed by a circle.  The bottle is square and measures 4.875" tall by 1.625".  The bottle appears to have been sealed with a very large cork.  There is no sign of any other methods of sealing the bottle.

Sayman  Bottle

This bottle was produced for Dr. T. M. Sayman who was from St. Louis Missouri. The product that was contained in this bottle is unknown.  Embossed on the front of the bottle is " THE SAYMAN PRODUCTS ARE SUPREME."  On the left side, the words "DR. T. M. SAYMAN" are embossed and on the left side is "ST. LOUIS, MO."  There is also a large "S" embossed on the bottom of the bottle.  This bottle measures 6.875" tall by 2.5" wide by 1.125" thick and holds an unknown volume.  This bottle was sealed with a cork.

Fresca Bottle

This is my only bottle of this type.  This bottle is for "Sugar Free Fresca."  Nothing is really known about the beverage but this bottle is quite interesting.  at the top it has "NO REFILL," "SUGAR FREE FRESCA" embossed.  the circle lower on the bottle has "SUGAR FREE FRESCA," " IMITATION CITRUS FLAVORED ARTIFICIALLY SWEETENED DIETARY CARBONATED BEVERAGE."  The rest of the bottle is embossed with a ruff texture and water droplets.  Embossed on the bottom is "NOT TO BE REFILLED."  This bottle measures 7.875" tall with a max circumference of 7.6875"and holds 10 fluid ounces. This bottle was sealed with a metal bottle cap.

Flavoring Extracts Bottle

This bottle was made for Chas H. Adams.  The bottle contained flavoring extracts.  The text embossed on the bottle reads "CHAS H. ADAMS STANDARD FLAVORING EXTRACTS NEW ORLEANS, LA."  This square bottle measures 5.375" tall by 1.875" wide and .875" thick.  The bottle appears to have been sealed with a cork.  There is no evidence of any other possible method of sealing.

Aqua Blue Bottle

This bottle is really nothing spectacular.  It is really just a pretty bottle.  It appears that the bottle was sealed with a cork.  Embossed on the bottom of the bottle is a logo and "Japan."  Japan is where the bottle was made.  The bottle measures 6.25" tall with a max circumference of 6.375" and holds an unknown volume.  A very beautiful bottle in my collection.

Milk Bottles

These two 88 year old bottles are quite interesting.  Both bottles are by the same company.  Both were originally sealed on the same day, January 11, 1914.  This date is embossed on both bottles.  The smaller bottle does not have much on it.  Around the bottom "REGISTERED SEALED 1 11 14 MTC HALF PINT LIQUID" is embossed.  This bottle measures 5.375" tall with a max circumference of 5.6875" and holds a half pint.  The bottle to the right has "A BOTTLE OF MILK IS A BOTTLE OF HEALTH" embossed around the rim of the bottle and on the front of the bottle.  Around the bottom of this bottle "SEALED 1 - 11 - 14 ONE QUART LIQUID MTC" is embossed.  This bottle measures 9.5" tall with a max circumference of 13.1875" and holds one quart. Both bottles were sealed with milk caps.

TAB

TAB was the first diet cola and was very popular in the 1980s. It was produced and marketed by the Coca-Cola company.  The two bottle that I have I found in the woods at an old dump site are in superb condition.  The smaller bottle to the left  measures 7.375" tall with a max circumference of 7.875".  The bottle holds 10 fluid ounces.  The larger bottle to the right measures 7.875" tall with a max circumference of 7.625".  The bottle holds 10 fluid ounces

Industrial Milk Bottle

This is a very big bottle, in fact, it is my biggest bottle.  It is a gallon milk bottle.  It is a very heavy duty bottle used by restaurants and other commercial business that use milk. The bottle was sealed with a milk cap. The bottle is square and measures 11" tall and is 5.375" wide. The bottle has "1 GAL" embossed on two corners.  The volume, word liquid, registration number, and the world sealed are embossed around the bottom sides of the bottles.  The bottles maker is unknown but strongly resembles smaller bottles made by Duraglas.

Duraglas Milk Bottles

Here are some of the most collectible bottles ever made, the milk bottle.  These two bottles are made by Duraglas.  The bottles used milk caps to seal the bottle after filling.  Both bottles have a distinct shape and top.  The smaller one to the left was found in January of 2003 on our farm.  It is a wonder how it survived all the years with the tractors and other equipment that could have easily crushed it.  The bottle is square and measures 5.5" by 2.25" wide.  This bottle holds a half pint.  The larger bottle to the right is also square and measures 8.75" by 3.375" wide.  The bottle holds one quart.  The volume, word liquid, registration number, and the world sealed are embossed around the bottom sides of the bottles.

Afri Cola (Empty and Full)

These two bottles are very interesting.  The bottles come form Europe where the cola is served hot. The product was created around 1900.  The smaller bottle to the left my mother got during a band trip in Europe in 1981.  She drank the cola while traveling on a ship.  This bottle measure 7.875" tall with a max circumference of 6.875".  The bottle holds an estimated eight fluid ounces.  The larger bottle to the right I purchased at World Mart in Baton Rouge in late 2002.  This bottle has a "Warning" on it for its high caffeine levels.  The bottle measures 9.5" tall with a max circumference of 7.5".  The bottle holds 11.15 fluid ounces.  Each bottle has something written on it going in a circle just under the indentations in the bottle.  All eight words are different on the bottles (four words on each bottle) of which none I can read.  You can learn more about Afri Cola here.
