Horses

Welcome to my Horse Page.  Here you will find information on many of the horses owned by Rouillier Paint Horse Farm.  Most of the horses here I have shown and trained.  I have been showing horses for many years and you will find a record of that here also.  Please enjoy yourself as you read.  Thank you.

Barlinks Tuf Buffy

Adam And Baby BuffyI have raised Buffy since the day she was born.  She was a beautiful little baby and now, at five, she stands 16 hands tall and weighs 1,440 pounds.  I am glad that she's tall because I am 6'3" and seems to dwarf many horses.

Buffy's sire is Dee Link.  He's a World Champion Halter stallion.  Her dam was a beautiful mare named Triple Grand.  "Trixie" was the daughter of two World Champion halter horses.  Trixie was foundered before we bought her, but she lived a happy life with us.  We raised five foals off of Trixie with Buffy being the only filly.  All of Trixie's foals were overos.

Just as all of her siblings, Buffy is an overo, she just doesn't have a ton of white.  She's eye-catching with her nice big blaze and her four socks.  Her qualifying markings are the white spot on her belly and the high white on the inside of her right fore leg.

I was rather young, only 14 years old, when Buffy was born and we have grown up together.  Now we are both to our full adult size and we are both tall.  I have trained Buffy from day one.  She's always been my horse and I have always been her human.

Buffy has always been a sweetheart and she's always loved having meAdam And Buffy In North Carolina For The Southern Regionals around.  Now as a grown mare she's very protective of me.  She gets furious if I spend time with another horse, even if it is for a second.  She's spoiled rotten when it comes to me and I would not have it any other way.

The picture to the right was taken when Buffy was three years old.  We had hauled her all the way to Raleigh, North Carolina for the 2000 4-H Southern Regional Championships.  We were the Reserve Champion.  It was great and a lot of fun!

Buffy and I have recently completed showing in 4-H.  This was our last year because of my age.  Buffy and I grabbed our third consecutive Reserve Championship of the 4-H Southern Regional Championships.  What a run the two of us have had!

After the 2002 4-H Southern Regional Championships in Tennessee, we continued north to our Minature Donkeys Adfriends', Mr. Joe & Miss. Dayle Haworth, farm to spend some time visiting.  There we spent a couple of days and during one of those days, we did a "photo shoot."  the purpose of this "photo shoot" was for a promotion ad.  Mr. Joe and Miss. Dayle Haworth breed, show, and sell miniature donkeys at there farm called Half Ass Acres. Miss Dayle wanted to show how small her donkeys really are. That is where the idea of using Buffy was conjured up. The resulting ad was great and can be seen here to the left.

Now that Buffy is a Superior Halter Horse, she has retired from the show ring.  She's now a broodmare.  She is currently in foal to the multiple World Champion stallion Prairie Gold for the second time.  Buffy's first baby, Becca, is further below.  She is a very nice horse and should do good on the show circuit.  I has been a long and tormenting time working though an illness Buffy acquired shortly after the birth of Becca.  It has been a long time and we now are anxiously awaiting the right time to breed Buffy again.  Below is a picture of Prairie Gold.

4 Time World Champion Prairie Gold

We attended the 1998 Southern Regional 4-H Championships in Little Rock, Arkansas, the 2000 Southern Regional 4-H Horse Show in Raleigh, North Carolina, the 2001 Southern Regional 4-H Championships in Memphis, Tennessee, and the 2002 Southern Regional 4-H Championships, also in Memphis, Tennessee.  In Halter, only the State Champion has an automatic berth to go.  We couldn't miss these shows for the world and we're glad we didn't!

Buffy and I placed fifth as a yearling (against all ages) and as the Reserve Champion as a three-year-old, four-year-old, and five-year-old!  She was "only" the Reserve State Champion in 1999 and as such, she didn't qualify for the Birmingham, Alabama Southern Regionals that year.

Buffy and I are pictured at right while Buffy got to stretch her legs at theAdam Giving Buffy A Break Out Of The Horse Trailer In Georgia Georgia Welcome Center in 2000.  We were on our way to Raleigh, N.C. at the time.  Buffy was only three and that trip was a lot for her.   She's well traveled, but never 2,400 miles in eight days before!

I have now completed my last year of eligibility for competition in the APHA Youth classes.  I'll be competing this show season  with HT Tommy Girl, my brother's mare, in Amateur Halter while Ross, her owner, shows her in Youth.  Tommy already has her Superior in Open Halter and we're hoping to add another one or two superiors to her record, in time.  You can read more about my HT Tommy Girl further down on this page.

Becca (Unnamed)

This is Becca.  She's a 2003 red dun breeding stock Paint Horse filly.  She is sired by 4 time world champion Prairie Gold. This is a world class filly here.  Becca will be registered with both the American Paint Horse Association and the American Buckskin Association.  The picture on the left is of Becca at 12 hours old.

Becca is well put together.  She has plenty of muscle, a long neck, a beautiful head, and I believe she will be very correct.   I can also assure you that Becca will not be a small horse, she will be a massive horse for both her dam and sire are massive.  Her dame, Buffy,  is 16 hands tall and her sire, Prairie Gold, is also 16 hands tall.  Becca will be an awesome horse to show at top American Buckskin Association and American Paint Horse Association shows.  I would love to bring her to the Buckskin World and show her myself but unfortunately we have to sell her.  I don't like the fact that we must sell Buffy's first baby but it is necessary.  We currently don't know how much we will ask for Becca.  We are going to wait until she matures a little and then price her.

The picture at right is of Becca at 12 days old.  Here she is seen laying on my lap taking a nap.  Becca is a second generation "lap baby."  It is something that I have always done with Buffy and can still do today despite her massive size.  This is something I love about my horses.  It is more than just being around them, it is gaining there trust and being able to trust them.  It is a wonderful feeling when you and your horse can practically read each others minds.  You can see more pictures of Becca here.

Puddens Sweet Miss Dee

Adam And Sweetie As A YearlingMeet Sweetie.  She's a 1999 dun breeding stock Paint Horse filly.  She's sired by the world champion Dee Link and she's out of a Pudden Head bred mare.  She's a beautiful, classy young mare.  She's also had a great show career in 4-H competition.

In these pictures please know that I am 6'3" and his other mare Buffy is an honest 16 hands when we put the stick to her.  Don't assume that Sweetie is little because she's not!  Remember she's next to me who is very tall and a tall mare.  I expect her to top out at just a tad under 16 hands.

When Sweetie was a yearling she was the 4-H District Champion and she placed fourth in the state in AOB Mares.  She has to show in "All Other Breed" mares because she's a breeding stock.  The Louisiana Paint Horse Club, a subsidiary of the American Paint Horse Association, provides the awards for the Paint Horse division.  Because of that the 4-H follows the APHA's rule about painted and non-painted horses not being allowed to show together.  That worked out just fine for me because I could show my mare Buffy in the Paint Horse division and Sweetie in the AOB division.

At the 2001 State 4-H Horse Show I showed both Buffy and Sweetie to State Championships!  It was more than I could ever have imagined!  That was a once in a lifetime experience or so we though. At the 2002 State 4-H HorseAdam And Sweetie As A Two-Year-Old Show I showed both Buffy and Sweetie to State Championships again.  I, who tries to hold back tears, ok everyone laugh now, had tears of joy running down my face.  To make it even better, a breeding stock mare that we sold to some friends placed Reserve State Champion AOB mare just behind me.  That was awesome.

We are current breeding Sweetie.  She had been in foal to have a baby in 2003. We lost the baby because she conceived twins.  We will be breeding her as soon as we can for at 2004 foal.  I can't wait to see what we get.

HT Tommy Girl

Last year we bought a mare we have loved since she was a foal.  We first saw her at a bigDon Roberts And HT Tommy Girl Paint Horse show in 1997 when she was a weanling.  After years of admiring this fine young mare we were able to buy her.  At left is a picture her in foal on our farm in December of 2001.  Click on that picture to see more pictures of HT Tommy Girl.  Tommy is well bred and she's beautiful!  She foaled on January 17th, 2002 to a beautiful stud colt named Incisive sired by Decisive, a world champion stallion.  "Tommy" was retired as a two year old when she earned her Superior in Open Halter Mares.  She spent 2002 as a mom and we showed her foal in the fall futurities. Tommy was shown at a show in late 2002 and will be a fulltime show horse come 2003.  My brother, Ross, will be showing her in Youth competition in Louisiana and surrounding states.  I will be showing Tommy in Armature.  I think with a little work to get her back in shape, she will be a formidable opponent for almost any horse. Tommy's colt was the first foal born on our new farm.  We're looking forward to producing some champion Paint Horses here!

 Organization Information

My family and I are active members in the Louisiana Paint Horse Club.  The LPHC holds many shows over the year.  This up coming show season looks to be a very exciting one.  The biggest LPHC show will be the annual Azalea Classic on April 12th and 13th.  This will be an Eight judge show in West Monroe at the Ike Hamilton Exop Center.  I hope that you would join us if possible.  It looks to be a wonderful show.  Look for that full color ad in the Paint Horse Journal.

If you want to know more about the Azalea Classic in West Monroe and others, please visit the LPHC website.  It has a complete show schedule with a list of judges as well as other features like the Stallion Auction where you can get breeding to some of the top stallions in the nation for half price. Also contained at this website is the LPHC Youth website where you will find out many things that the youth club is doing and information on awards such as the Trophy Saddles.  It is really a great site and I encourage you to check it out.

The LPHC is a subsidiary of the American Paint Horse Association.  All of our horses are registered with the APHA.  The APHA is a wonderful breed organization that has an ever increasing number of registered horses.  If you are interested in this breed, I suggest you check out the APHA Online.  It is a great site that has a lot of information from breed characteristics to scheduled APHA events the world over.
