tail. Female is similar but duller. Both males and females
pictured here. |

Their range is
east of the Rockies from southeastern Canada to the Gulf Coast. Also
in mountains of southeastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico.
Winters in the southern part of their breeding range, including Mexico. |

I enjoy watching these
birds. When one is on the ground, others that fly in will inevitably
swoop down as if they were going to land directly on it. It was
humorous to watch. |
