Northern Cardinals

Cardinalis cardinalis

Photographed January 2007

Northern Cardinals, Male bright red with crest, black face, stout red bill.  Female buff-brown, tinged with red on crest, wings, and tail.

Their range is the eastern United States up to southern Canada and south to the Gulf Coast.  There's also a swatch where they live in southern California, Arizona and southern Texas and into Mexico.

My photography is getting a bit better.  I'm quite happy with the first two.
