The second leg of our trip.

It was going to be awhile before we'd get where we were going to spend the night, so we pulled out of Mobile after an enjoyable, but rather brief visit with our friends.  We took an easier pace for the rest of the day, stopping whenever we needed to stretch our legs.

Buffy got to stretch her legs every three or so hours.  We hauled her eleven hours as a yearling to the Little Rock, Arkansas 4-H Southern Regional in 1998 and the heat and the stress got to her.  We hauled another horse, one that had been sold, up there with us and he gave me problems reloading, so we couldn't offload the horses after that.  We also spent over three hours parked on the Interstate in Arkansas behind a terrible wreck.   Buffy and the other horse were stuck in the trailer during that and it took it's toll.   By the time we were at the show grounds that year Buffy had lost a substantial amount of weight.  Luckily our trip this year went much better than that one.  In fact, it was great!

My niece, Bridget, and her family, Tommy, Amanda, and Christopher, graciously opened their home to us.  They live in Marietta, Georgia.  Bridget became educated about horses when I gave her the trouble of finding a stable to lay over Buffy for the night.  She laughed that of all of our family to come visit, she should have known that I'd be the one to bring a horse!  Our horse was even bigger than her cat, Katie.  Katie has been on a diet and had actually lost a substantial amount of weight by the time I took this picture!
